Note: Because configuration steps may vary based on your device, you may not see all of the options below, or they may be presented in a different order.
Checked all of the above? Or don't see the "nyu" network at all? Some devices, especially older ones, may need to use NYU's nyu-legacy network. Make sure you are trying to join "nyu" and not a different or similarly named network. Make sure you are in an NYU Wi-Fi supported area. Make sure you entered your current password and that there are no typos. Once connected for the first time, your device will remember and automatically connect to the "nyu" network when available. If you are presented with this screen, review that the connection server is, and then click Accept. You may be asked to accept a security certificate. Typos in the password are the most common cause of connection errors. Password: your NetID password (the one you use to access NYUHome). It may take a moment for your computer to search for and display "nyu" as an option. A list of joinable networks will appear under Choose a Network. Tap Wi-Fi, then tap the slider next to Wi-Fi to switch Wi-Fi On, if it is not already. On your iOS device's home screen, tap Settings. Other than selecting "nyu-legacy" from the list of available networks, connection instructions are the same as for "nyu.". If you think this is the case, you can connect to the 2.4 GHz "nyu-legacy" network. This is rare in computers and mobile devices but may be the case with other types of smart devices. You are using a device that doesn't meet the system requirements for connecting to "nyu." Some devices contain Wi-Fi radios only capable of connecting at a 2.4 GHz speed. However, you may need to give it a moment to scan or, if it doesn't scan automatically, click Scan Now (it may be text that says scan or an icon of an arrow in the shape of a circle). 
If you are in an NYU Wi-Fi-enabled location, "nyu" should appear very quickly. Your computer or device needs more time to scan for available networks.
This will not provide the best or most reliable connection.
Note: because of the way Wi-Fi signals work, you may pick up NYU Wi-Fi even when you are not in, but are near, a covered area. If this is the case, repeating the connection steps in an area with NYU Wi-Fi coverage should solve the issue.
